Questions

Getting started

How do I get started?

Fill in the short form on the Request a consultation page, or email [email protected]. Include your preferred location or online format and the best way to contact you, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The first 15-minute consultation is free and there is no commitment. It’s a chance to ask questions and see whether we’re a good fit.

What happens in the first session?

We talk about what brings you to therapy and what you’d like to change. I may ask you to fill in short questionnaires, and together we agree how we’ll work.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No. You can refer yourself. You can also be referred by your GP, another health professional, your employer or your health insurer.

Questions

Sessions and therapy

What issues can therapy help with?

Therapy can support anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, ADHD-related challenges, grief, anger, relationship concerns, self-esteem and personal development.

What is the difference between CBT and EMDR?

CBT looks at the links between thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and helps you develop practical ways of responding to difficulties. EMDR is a structured psychotherapy that helps people process distressing experiences and memories. Which suits you depends on your circumstances, and we’ll decide together.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes. Sessions are available online by Zoom or Google Meet, or by telephone, wherever you are. We’ll talk about suitability, location and availability before your first appointment.

Where do you see clients in person?

In Central London, Greenwich and East London, and in Lagos (Ikoyi and Lekki).

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you’d like help with. Some people find a few sessions are enough, while others prefer longer-term support. CBT usually takes between 6 and 18 sessions. We review your progress regularly together.

Do you offer sessions in other languages?

Yes. Sessions are available in English, French and Spanish.

Do you work with couples, children and teenagers?

Yes. I offer couples and relationship therapy, and age-appropriate support for children and teenagers.

Questions

Fees and cancellations

How long is a session, and what does it cost?

Sessions last about 50 minutes. Individual counselling is £75 (₦75,000) per session. See the fees page for all prices.

Do you offer reduced fees?

Yes. Concessions are available for students, people who are unemployed and people on a low income, and you save 10% when you pay for 12 sessions in advance (not EMDR treatment).

What if I need to cancel?

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice on a working day (Monday to Friday). Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged in full. See the refund policy.

Questions

Confidentiality

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Everything you share is confidential. I discuss my work with a clinical supervisor without identifying you. The only exception is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, and wherever possible I would talk to you first.
